Randy Love describes Jazz Alive as being a show about relaxing and taking off the edge. To that end, every Thursday morning from 9:00 to 11:00, listeners can expect to hear a mix of light jazz sounds to put them in tune with that quiet place.

Randy has been on the air at KAWC since "way back when". He began as a student on KAWC-AM, as DJ of a Country program, an Easy Listening show, and even an R&B show. He eventually began a Jazz show on Sunday evenings. Randy took a break from radio for awhile, focussing on his current career in the Communications department with the U.S. Border Patrol in Yuma. In 1995, shortly after KAWC began broadcasting over the FM airwaves, Randy returned to KAWC-FM and began hosting Jazz Alive.

Randy's hobbies include golfing, photography and tennis. He is married, and has one son. Questions or comments? Email Randy at JazzAlive@Adelphia.Net.

When you step into Jack's Place every Monday afternoon from 1pm to 3pm, you'll hear a large variety of Jazz music. Jack Weidner describes his show as covering the last 75 years of Jazz, from Dixieland to Swing to Bebop and everything in between.

Jack began at KAWC with a Country and Western program on the AM station in 1995. In October of 1998, he introduced Jack's Place to Yuma on the FM station.

Jack is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. He joined the Navy, working in Communications. After retiring, Jack settled in Maine and became a business office machine dealer before REALLY retiring. He has wintered in Yuma for the last 10 years and became a published author with the release of his first novel, "A Question of Honor." You can find "A Question of Honor" at Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble bookstores, among other places.

Jack's hobbies include racketball, fly fishing, bridge, and music (of course). He is married to his lovely wife, Dorothy, and they have three beautiful children.

"Gaboury's Private Stock" is a 2-hour musical experience that is as unpredictable as it is entertaining. With over 40 years on the radio in the Yuma area, John Gaboury shares his own record collection along with his perspective of Yuma's history. KAWC listeners can listen in each Wednesday afternoon from 1pm to 3pm for "Gaboury's Private Stock." One listen...and you're hooked!

Jazz Straightahead is a weekly two-hour radio program featuring jazz, hosted by "Doc Jazz" (aka Cary Meister). Call it straightahead, mainstream, or acoustic, the program is in the line that begins with traditional (New Orleans, Chicago), on through swing, bop, cool, hard bop, third stream, and post-bop, right up to today's young lions of the sax, trumpet, piano, bass, and drums--and other instruments.

Occasionally, Doc Jazz will digress into jazz-related and other improvisatory musics (blues, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and various other ethnicities), and two features within the show are:

· Jazz West to East, a calendar of the jazz scene in southern California and Arizona
· Yuma Jazz Calendar, which highlights what's going on in all the Jazz in Yuma, Arizona

You can hear Jazz Straightahead every Friday morning from 9:00 to 11:00, only on KAWC-FM 88.9. Questions or comments? Email Doc Jazz at therealdocjazz@hotmail.com.
